Call of Duty Movie Confirmed to Take Place in the Modern Warfare Universe

Activision has revealed an important new detail about its upcoming Call of Duty movie, confirming that the film will be set in the Modern Warfare universe.

The announcement was made during Fanatics Fest, where director Peter Berg confirmed the setting. The news ends months of speculation, as the Call of Duty franchise includes several separate storylines, such as Modern Warfare, Black Ops, and other standalone series.

Modern Warfare Takes Center Stage

Choosing the Modern Warfare universe means the movie is expected to embrace the franchise's grounded military action, modern-day conflicts, and tactical combat that have made the series one of Call of Duty's most popular storylines.

While Activision has not revealed whether iconic characters like Captain Price, Soap MacTavish, or Ghost will appear, the confirmation strongly suggests the film will draw inspiration from the Modern Warfare games.

The Call of Duty movie is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 30, 2028.
